Sojourn

Fresh out of Sojourn Inc. ex-gay ministries, 39-year old Lucy Van Buren returns home to the Minnesota river town of her youth and into her widowed mother’s rejoicing arms.

A washed-up musician, Lucy’s years of living out of broke-down tour buses and ratty motels have scarcely prepared her for running the town’s premier bed & breakfast, but she’s vowed to make a go to find peace in her life.

Soon Lucy discovers that an escape to the nook and cranny of America is no escape at all. She runs into her high school crush, Kate, now the daughter-in-law of conservative Senator Claudia Larson. Heated confrontations ensue.

Not only is Kate flabbergasted that once-promising Lucy Van Buren has gone straight, Kate is torn between supporting her mother-in-law or her best friends Mark and Ray who will never get married if Senator Larson has her way. Despite tension in the Larson household, Kate appeals to Lucy to wake up and help her defeat the Senator’s anti-gay marriage act.

Troubled by her rekindled desire for Kate, Lucy declines. As she anonymously blogs the agonizing details of her Journey from Gay to Straight, site traffic surges with activists, gawkers and the only woman who could know the blogger’s identity. Kate Larson.

What are Kate’s own feelings and what will she do with the information?
Will Lucy escape the closet?
Will Senator Larson get her act passed?
Will Mark and Ray get married?

You can go home again. But you better have a damn good reason.
